Gunther is a biotech executive and entrepreneur. He was born and educated in Austria where he pursued graduate studies in biochemistry, genetics, and virology, and earned a Masters Degree and a Doctorate from the University of Vienna, Austria. Postdoctoral studies brought him to the United States in 1986. Gunther started his industry career in 1988 at Biogen, a biotechnology company in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he held senior positions in R&D, Sales and Marketing and in Corporate Administration. He left Biogen in 2011 and started Biometheus, a company that specializes in precision medicine. He is also a member of the Trustee Advisory Board, the Research Oversight Committee and the Integrated Health Center Advisory Board at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital in Boston. He is married to Maria Winkler and they have two adult children. Maria and Gunther divide their time between Naples and Boston. |
