Mark Schneider




Mark Schneider recently retired as vice president with MedStar, a $6 billion provider organization serving the Washington/Baltimore area. Mark directed the software procurement, implementation, and support for MedStar’s hospitals and clinics. He joined the NCWA Board of Directors in 2023 and is on the Technology and Website Committee.

Mark sat on the executive committee of the board for Maryland’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) and chaired the HIE Board in the District of Columbia.

Prior to his work with MedStar, Mark was a vice president with IDX/GE, a publicly traded firm providing both clinical and business software to health care providers. Before that Mark spent 18 years in consulting, providing counseling and health information strategies to large integrated health networks, Fortune 100 technology firms and foreign governments.

He has lectured at Cornell, MIT and Harvard’s School of Public Health, as well as numerous national and international conferences. In 1995 he co-authored a book Patient Care Information Systems that was awarded book of the year honors by the Health Information Management Systems Society.

Mark has been an adjunct assistant professor in the Brown University School of Public Health Department of Health Services, Policy and Practice since 2012. After receiving his biology and psychology degrees from the University of Rochester, he graduated from Cornell’s Sloan Program in Health Administration and earned his M.B.A. from Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management.
