Great Decisions
Exploring and Discussing Vital World Issues
Great Decisions is America's largest world affairs discussion program. The program is offered by NCWA in the Greater Naples area as part of our total international affairs experience.
NCWA’s 24 Great Decisions groups -- with up to 35 members each -- meet weekly for eight weeks January to March for vibrant, interactive discussions of global issues. We offer a full range of different locations, days of the week and meeting times.
Meetings are structured to investigate a specific world affairs subject, explore targeted discussion questions and then reach a considered policy decision. Participants prepare by reading short background articles from a Great Decisions briefing book prepared by the Foreign Policy Association (FPA) plus relevant additional background information. Then, through active, respectful and nonpartisan group discussions, we try to reach a policy decision on the weekly subject.
Our group members come from a wide array of backgrounds with international affairs experiences ranging from global travelers to international business executives to retired diplomats to simply intellectually curious people with an interest in the changing world of global affairs. NCWA group leaders have an average of 10 years' experience in the program. Our group leaders manage respectful discussions and make sure all have a chance to be heard.
Our groups aim for a social, fun, nonpartisan and positive atmosphere that fosters learning as well as long-term friendships among group members. The program is open to members of NCWA. Welcome in!
