Educator of the Year Award
2019 Winner: Lisa Carraher

The Outreach Committee gives the Louis H. Kuhn award annually to an educator who has contributed significantly to the Council’s mission of “educate, inspire and engage” at the Middle and High School levels of the community. The award is named in honor of the late Mr. Kuhn, who was a long-time member and volunteer on the Council and the Outreach Committee.

Educators wishing to nominate a colleague for this award, which carries with it a plaque and an honorarium, should submit a nomination form to the Council.

Lisa Carraher, 2019 

On April 5, 2019,The School Outreach Committee of the Naples Council on World Affairs presented the Educator of the Year award to Ms. Lisa Carraher of Pine Ridge Middle School. Lisa has been a teacher with Collier County Schools for 27 years teaching both geography of the eastern hemisphere and world history. She has been recognized as the Sallie Mae Outstanding First Year Teacher for Collier County, Social Studies Teacher of the year and Golden Apple Teacher of Distinction. She has been involved with the Naples Council of World Affairs since 2007, when her son was awarded a scholarship to travel to Costa Rica. Then, in 2011 she was chosen as one of the 4 educators to travel to Turkey sponsored by the council and the Turkish government. Mrs. Carraher has also been a coach for Pine Ridge Middle Schools Academic World Quest team for over 10 years and this year became the winningest coach with  the most first place finishes.
