Application to Serve on the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of NCWA appreciates your interest in joining us. We are will soon accep applications from members who would like to join the Board of Directors for the 2025-26 season. The deadline for us to receive your application is Friday, January 10, 2025.

You will be pleased to learn that there are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities with NCWA, including assisting in the presentation of lectures and other major events, leading Great Decisions discussion groups, facilitating learning opportunities for high school and middle school students, selecting summer study applicants from area high schools, administering many functions for the Model United Nations competition at Florida Gulf Coast University, helping program "alumni" explore careers in international affairs and diplomacy, and many more.

NCWA's Board members are deeply and personally involved in their favorite programs in a "hands on" fashion. While some nonprofit organizations have Boards that operate mainly at a policy level, this is a "working board" that operates without a paid staff. We place our resources in our program content.

Board members are expected to:

• attend all Board meetings (generally the third Thursday of the months October or November through April, available in person and via Zoom),
  
• serve on one or more committees,
  
• become members of the President’s Club and
  
• share responsibility for the wellbeing and operation of the Council in an environment that relies on collegial teamwork
  

The deadline for submission will be announced in a communication to the membership. Candidates may be scheduled for interviews with the Nominating Committee.
