The Opportunity: Next Steps in Reducing Nuclear Arms

Dr. Steven Pifer will address the Naples Council on World Affairs on Monday, November 4th, at 3:45 and 7:30 pm at St. John the Evangelist’s Kiney Hall, 625 111th  Avenue No. in North Naples.

A Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, Steven Pifer will discuss the value of arms control for making America safer and more secure. He will describe why it is in the U.S. interest to negotiate further cuts in nuclear weapons to levels below those in the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, the opportunities to do so, and the challenges that may inhibit us from realizing those opportunities. He will also touch on the Chemical Weapons Convention and Syria’s recent agreement to participate.
