Fidel Castro's Missile Crisis: 50 Years Later

What secrets have been revealed from American archives and Cuban defectors? Does the world really know how close we came to nuclear holocaust? Or what Castro knew about Lee Harvey Oswald?

Dr. Brian Latell will return to the Naples Council at this revealing moment in history to discuss the details of the life of this successful spymaster and the challenge the CIA faced in dealing with Cuba’s Castro brothers.

Dr. Latell has been a Latin America and Caribbean specialist for more than four decades. During his 35 years of service in the CIA and the National Intelligence Council, he advised the White House and other ranking American officials and members of Congress on Latin American developments. He has written and lectured extensively with significant focus on Cuba and his latest book, “Castro’s Secrets”, was published in April 2012.

Dr. Brian Latell

Dr. Latell serves as Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies at the University of Miami. He is the recipient of many academic and professional awards as well as the CIA’s Distinguished Intelligence Medal.
