Taiwan: The Thriving Chinese Democracy

The Naples Council on World Affairs invites you to a presentation on Taiwan by our current president Wally Stimpson. The 23 million people on that island passionately believe in democracy, free speech, human rights and the rule of law, and have created an economic powerhouse. Strangely, everyone seems to agree that Taiwan is part of China. How can this be? And can the status quo be maintained?

During his business career as a management consultant, Wally traveled widely, but mostly in the United States. Now in his second decade with the Naples Council, and also in Great Decisions, he has developed a strong interest in world affairs. Wally is originally from Massachusetts and earned both a BA in mathematics and an MBA from Harvard University.
