The Naples Council on World Affairs will welcome Ambassador Charles [Jack] Pritchard, President of the Korea Economic Institute, to the podium on Monday, January 24th, 2011, at St. John the Evangelist’s Kiney Hall, at 625 111th Avenue, at 3:45 and 7:30pm.
A frequent visitor to North Korea, Amb. Pritchard will be returning to the US from that country on the Friday prior to his address to the Council. He has previously traveled to and visited their nuclear facility and has served as Ambassador and Special Envoy for negotiations with the Democratic People’s Republic, as well as US Representative to the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization, during the Bush Administration.
Amb. Pritchard previously served as Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and Senior Director for Asian Affairs in the Clinton Administration. As Ambassador he was also deputy chief negotiator for the Four Party Peace Talks, which aimed at reducing tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
Ambassador Pritchard served in the US Army for 28 years, retiring with the rank of Colonel. He is the recipient of the Defense Distinguished Service Medal.
