"Putin's World: Is this Cold War 2.0?"
Professor Angela Stent will address the Naples Council on World Affairs on Monday, January 19th, 2015, at St. John the Evangelist’s Kiney Hall, 625 111th Avenue No. in North Naples at 3:45 and 7:30 pm.
Angela Stent's talk will be based on her book "The Limits of Partnership: US-Russian Relations in the Twenty-First Century", for which she recently won the American Academy of Diplomacy's Douglas Dillon award for the best book on the practice of American diplomacy. Her book will be available for sale following both lectures. Here is a preview:
Chancellor Merkel has told President Obama that Vladimir Putin "lives in another reality". How does Putin see the world and why does he describe the United States as Russia's "main enemy"? What are the prospects for Russia's relations with the West going forward? Is this a new Cold War and how should the United States respond? Why has it been so difficult for Washington to construct a productive relationship with Moscow since the Soviet collapse?
Dr. Angela Stent
Angela Stent is Director of the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies and Professor of Government and Foreign Service at Georgetown University. From 2004-2006 she served as National Intelligence Officer for Russia and Eurasia at the National Intelligence Council. From 1999 to 2001, she served in the Office of Policy Planning at the U.S. Department of State.
