Current chair of NCWA's School Outreach Committee, Mark Walchak received a B.S. from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from Xavier University. He did graduate studies in mechanics and material science at Rutgers University. Mark enlisted in the U.S. Army and was in the bomb squad and was assigned to work with the Secret Service. He had a TSBI-CNWDI Clearance (Top Secret Background Investigation-Critical Nuclear Weapon Design Information). He was an engineer in the consumer products and pharmaceuticals industry, where he worked on anti-counterfeiting and led a multi-national team to establish the international standard for bar coding pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Mark is an avid biker and travels extensively. He recently completed an around the world trip with National Geographic and has planned trips to Antarctica and Patagonia. Mark is the past president of Speakers Assembly of Southwest Florida. He established a scholarship endowment at Michigan State University and a program with the Scholarship Fund for Inner City Children-Newark, where he has sent a number of children from the Newark area that have an interest in science to Space Camp every summer for the last 20 years. |
