Linda Penniman


Linda Penniman is an active leader in Collier County environmental, governmental and community affairs.

A former member of Naples City Council, she served two years as vice mayor, and was a member of the Planning Advisory Board for the City of Naples. She was a member of the Coastal Advisory Committee of Collier County for four years and served as chair for one year, during which time she led in influencing the Committee and the Board of County Commissioners to agree to change their focus from beach nourishment to resiliency.

Also, she is a member of the Collier Citizens' Council, where she is vice chair of the organization and chairs the Water Quality Committee and is a board member of Calusa Waterkeeper. She is a special task force member of the Conservancy of Southwest Florida and along with her husband, Nick, was recognized with the Eagle Award from the Conservancy for work relating to the local environment.

She is currently chair of Smart Growth Now and is founder and chair of the Florida Center for Government Accountability. She has been chair of the Moorings Property Owners Association, a community of 6,400 dwellings, for six years and has served as Education chair and a member of the Environment Committee of the Board of Directors of the League of Women Voters. 

She is an Advisory Board Member of WGCU Public Radio and Television, a board member of the Neighborhood Clinic and a member of the Women's Giving Circle of Collier County.

Formerly, she was a board member and Vice President of Greater Naples Leadership and was recognized in 2015 as a Woman of Initiative by the Community Foundation of Collier County.
