The main purpose of our Web site is to provide information and services to individuals and members of the Naples Council on World Affairs. Your privacy is important to us and we are committed to protecting it and to making you aware of our online practices regarding the privacy of your information.
Use and Storage of member supplied information:We collect personal information when you provide it in the course of interacting with the site. You may register to become a member, make a donation and sign-up and pay for events. In so doing, you may be asked to provide personally identifiable information such as your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, fax number, or information about your interests and activities.
The primary use of information is for periodic messages regarding services, events and other information and notices believed interesting or useful.
This Information, provided by members is used only by the NCWA to support member services and is not shared, sold or rented with any other organization. The data is stored in a data center audited to the SAS 70 industry standard to insure state of the art physical security and disaster protection.
Providing, viewing or changing this information requires a member to log onto the site.
Personal information maybe also be added, changed or deleted by telephoning the NCWA office.
The same information available in the printed annual directory is also available for viewing by registered NCWA members on the website. Information in the printed directory matches that on the website at the time of publication.
Online payments:Credit card payments made using the website are encrypted for transmission and use security certificates to identify and certify websites. In our specific case the SSL certificate is supplied by Digicert, Inc. and is a version 3 SSL certificate. Confidential data supplied by members is also encrypted.
Our payment systems are hosted at FireHost a leader in secure cloud hosting. For disaster protection, two locations, one in Dallas Texas and a second in Phoenix Arizona are used.
For further protection once a credit card transaction is processed credit card information is deleted from the site.
Information automatically gathered by the website:Aggregate data on site usage and device type is gathered to improve site performance. Device information includes type of browser, operating system and Internet provider. Usage information includes number of new visitors, number of return visits and pages visited.
Some of the above data plus information to improve and simplify member’s visits like log-in information, registration status and invoices are gathered using Cookies. These are small files saved on a member’s computer web browser which are read and updated when a member accesses our site. For registered members a cookie can eliminate the need for logging in. This is possible only if the browser is set to maintain rather than discard cookies.
Videos and links to other sites:Videos of lectures and for Great Decision programs are displayed over YouTube using a private channel established for NCWA. This approach was followed to maximize visual quality and minimize the wait time to view videos. Because these videos were published with YouTube’s security feature, a cookie is not created when viewing our videos. Though unable to track history it should be noted that YouTube derives information when their video is viewed.
We provide links to other sites we believe are helpful to members. NCWA however bears no responsibility for the privacy or security of these sites.
