“THE ISIS OUTBREAK”
Andrew J. Tabler, Senior Fellow
Washington Institute for Near East Policy

The Naples Council on World Affairs welcomes Andrew Tabler on Monday, November 3rd, at 3:45 and 7:30 pm at Saint John the Evangelist’s Kiney Hall, 625 11th St. No. in North Naples.

Andrew Tabler wrote, in Foreign Affairs’ July/August edition, 2012, that “the country’s soft partition allowed space for ISIS to jump across the border from Iraq and metastasize inside of Syria”. Dealing with that very issue, as in the June 2014 outbreak, finds both Iraq and U.S. Allies in the region strongly menaced. ISIS is a certain terrorist threat to both Europe and the United States: what is President Obama’s ISIS strategy and what scenario can we paint for the future?

Andrew Tabler focuses on Syria and U.S. Policy in the Levant. He resided in the Middle East for fourteen years and is a fluent Arab speaker. He received an M.A. in comparative politics and Arabic, American University in Cairo, and a B.A. at Washington & Jefferson College.
