Richard G. Clemens

         

Richard Clemens was born in Chicago and raised in a suburb of Philadelphia.  He graduated from the University of Virginia College of Arts and Sciences in 1962 and obtained his  J.D. degree from the University of Virginia's College of Law in 1965 where he was a member of the Law Review.   He spent his entire legal career at Sidley Austin LLP, a major international law firm, and was the first Sidley lawyer to serve in a foreign office (Brussels, Belgium). He specialized in corporate law and also has served as Chairman of the international and Foreign Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association.  He  retired as a senior partner of Sidley Austin n 2007.  Dick is the author of Rescuing America, the Bipartisan Path, which was published in 2008.

 

Dick has lived part-time in Naples since 2003 and has been a member of the Naples Council since 2010.  He has participated in Great Decisions programs.  He is also a trustee of Williamson College of the Trades, the only college in the country that provides full scholarships (tuition, room and board) to all of its students.  Admission to Williamson is based upon financial need. Dick is also a director of the Give Something Back Foundation, which provides full scholarships to students from low-income families attending eighteen partner colleges and universities in six states.
